Something will be worked out (for money of course). I believe Navico has patents on down imaging and CHIRP. Hard to keep up with it or should I say a it is more of a loss of interest in the technology.
It seems everyone eventually has all the same bells and whistles, I imagine there are a lot of deals happening behind the scenes on this stuff. Competition is good for us! New gadgets at good prices, can't let the competition get an edge!
Well, we have all seen the drastic drop in the price of large screen TVs, but I doubt we will ever see much of a drop in the si/di big screen sonars (except to clear out old stock), mainly because of the limited market. I read somewhere that only 20-25% households in the US own recreational boats. What percent own di/si stuff ? I dunno.
