Black Friday fishing report

I charged the battery all night, still had a bucket full of minnows and there was no wind to speak of. I got out on the water by 11, searched a deep hole for about 35 min and not a bite. Tried another creek mouth and by golly a bobber went down, then another and another and I was getting bit only I was loosing them on the lift. (13' black widow poles) I boated a few and measured them at 9.25-9.5,10.0 then my electronics died. ?? dead battery after 1hour and 40 min. Hand pulled the motor to start and back home and to battery plus. They said my battery was dead so I said then get me another on it is not that old. That is when they said they need to charge and load it to do a proper test. Waiting on results. The NW river was a bit murky about 12" vis. and a bit of floating debris. But boy were the boats out! Met a guy back at the dock that had limited out so he ended his day early. All fish caught on BGBS pearl white/tipped with small minnow. temp 62

Just got a new battery, no charge. Said I should never run past half charge and if I run it dead it will not last long. I run it till it stops working then I go home.

That's good advice. Here's a detailed rundown from Barnacle Bill. Get one of these in-line voltage meters to keep an eye on your battery's condition on the water. At $3 plus no-cost shipping, you can't go wrong.

Let me get this correct. If I install the volt meter and it reads 12.06 volts I am at 50% and it is best to stop fishing and call it a day? I currently have a gizmo, that has 4 red lights 100% 75% 50% 25% or dead no lights.

Bill if this reply don't belong here please delete it. I was having battery problems this spring. Found out that my t/m batteries were starting batteries. I also had two plug in chargers, and a Min Kota charger. On the motor/electronics I had a blue top Optmia. I dumped the two starting batteries for a pair of a/c Delco deep cycling voyagers and a marine cranking battery. Removed all chargers and put in an on board Min Kota PC 318 wich is a three bank charger. So far I can fish all day come home and plug her in. Yes I have plug built in the back. I am going to remove the batteries when the Temps get down lower. I hope this helps you.

No problem Dave. A boat I sold a few years ago had a set of AC Voyagers in it. They were about 7 years old and still going strong.
