You are so right, Andrew. Pawpaw Gene and his wife, Mrs. Linda, are some mighty fine folks. They make so delicious boudin poppers too.
We traded fish for boudin, I'm ready to try it. We had a great couple hours he took pics and I'm sure he will post. I have meet some great folks on these kinda forums.
He also got a ear full from my 90 yr old neighbor. She could talk for days.
In truth, Andrews gave us the fish and while getting them in the cooler Linda remembered that we had a few links of boudin left over from the weekend so she offered them to him which he gladly accepted. Nice trade.
Andrews has a great place to fish. He was fishing when we got there and he invited us to join in on the fun. While there Linda missed a few and I landed one. Andrews landed 3 or 4 plus two nice catfish, flatheads or ops as some call them.
Andrews is a very pleasant and kind soul. Just the kind of person we at CDC like to have in the group. He says he's new to crappie fishing but he has his fishing hole mastered but he wants to expand his knowledge. He also dives and grabs large catfish out of their dens. He has more gut than I.
His honey hole which he gladly shares with the 90 year old neighbor, is a fish house out on the water. It's an enclosed building over about 20 foot of water. The inside has a floor all the way around but the center is open. In it you can fish rain or shine, hot or cold. A great set up. I met the 90 year old neighbor that he shares the fish house with. Boy, you'd never guess that she is ninety. She looks and acts like a 60 year old. She told us the story of how she landed a 37 pound flathead in the fish house. I just wish I had recorded on film. She fought that monster on a fly rod that she uses for the crappie. By the time she worn it down she was wore out. She tied off the line and went get some help to get it out of the water. I wish we could have stayed to hear more of her stories. What a great human being she is.
What a great way to cap off a great weekend. Couldn't have asked for better. We have made loose plans to come back for another visit and stay for a few days. I sure would like to be there during the spawn.
