Smithville Nov 14th
Went out today for a few hours and yes it was very very windy but the crappie were biting in water as shallow as 3 ft from the rock banks and as deep as 15ft in brush and open water in tight schools. Lots and lots of dinks on lures, color didn't matter, but caught bigger fish on large minnows too big for the small ones to eat. 12 keepers big fish 13in. One more nice day to fish before the storms and cold weather shut it down.

The fish were defiantly biting. Problem for me was the size. I probably caught 40 off the camp branch docks with the biggest at 8 7/8ths. That one was the only one close enough to measure. I ended up with 5 keepers when I moved to the brush piles off the camp branch bridge rocks. I left a marker buoy on one of the brush piles to help the next guy out.http://www.crappie.com/crappie/webki...4331c/imagegif

Nice report, hopefully all those short fish will be keepers next year.

Went out again today just before noon, yes in the wind and all. Between the three of us I bet we caught over 100 crappie. They were hitting almost every cast using some type of chartreuse. Any other color and the bite slowed down. They were hitting anywhere from 4 feet to 15 ft down over 30 ft of water in open water near the camp branch marina. BUT they were all shorts. Lots of fun catching them like that but 10 keepers was all we walked away with. The fish were so thick on my Garmin that I thought it was malfunctioning. It's weird yesterday they were on the banks, today they were in open water.

Congrats on the catchin. Thanks for the updated report.

Did anybody find the marker buoy I left Saturday? It would be nice to know it went to a good home. :-( I caught all 5 of my keepers there.

It was gone when I went back out yesterday
