Yep was Friday the 13th. Chief and I decided to hit Hillsdale. Meet Chief at Ottawa got to Jayhawk ramp about 0800. Went to lower the motor nothing no juice. Tried jumping with trolling motor battery no luck there either. So pulled out went to O'Riellys in Paola took the battery out and had them charge it. Chief and I went to breakfast nice little cafe there. Good B&G two singles for under nine bucks. Not bad. Okay got all charged up on the water shortly after 0900. (sweet charging was free) went to the drop off just out of the cove there 7 other boats fishing. Caught a few dinks then a couple keepers. Fish not jumping in boat most bites 20 down in 20 to 25 ft of water. Fish not really relating to brush just scattered along the drop off. Black a chart seemed the best for us. the straighter line seemed to be best they did not want much movement. Tried casting a slow retrieve no luck with that. Chief got antsie so went to check out some piles He knew but no luck there went back to org. spot caught three more keepers and a number of shorts. So ended the day with five. So I had fresh crappie for supper tonight first time in awhile.
Talking to some of the other boats fishing the bite was a little better early. After about 1230 they seemed to quit all together.
