New Species of fish in Arkansas

Another hypothetical:

Assuming it could be done successfully and not have any adverse effects on the current ecosystem in place, what species of fish would you want to see introduced into Arkansas waters ? For me, I've always wanted to hook into and land a monster Peacock Bass. That's on my bucket list of fishing trips is to go on a successful trip top water fishing for Peacock Bass ! I'd love it if Peacock Bass were readily accessible up and down the backwater sloughs on the Arkansas River ! I'm pretty sure they need a brackish water environment for survival though and a much more tropical environment.... But man if they could thrive and survive here..... What about you, what would you want to see ?

Peacock Bass cannot survive in waters North of Broward County, Florida. They were introduced into Fla waters to control the Tilapia & Oscar population that was taking over some of the waterways. They were introduced back in the 1980's and have become an industry in and of themselves ... with guides specializing in Peacock & Oscar fishing.

Thanks for the info Pappy. I know that them big ole Peacocks can't survive up here, I only wish..... You may have missed the purpose of the thread. It's hypothetical question that I posed and then answered. Appreciate the info though ! Post another reply and play along.

Some of my wifes relatives have been to Brazil peacock fishing. The cost really isn't that bad.

If I could see one fish introduced that would'nt hurt our lakes. It would be a stocking program of Yellow jumbo perch they would do well in our deep upland Lakes. They are in the Walleye Fam and taste beyond belief they also work well with lakes with crappie in them, They are a small jig, insect, minnow feeder and only get to about 2 lbs. Yummy fish to fry with a patch of crappie.

Yellow perch have already been transplanted into Bull Shoals Lake by some transplants. Time will tell if this is a good thing or a bad thing.
