Fox squirrel zonkers
Somehow screwed up my good knee so since the most I can do is sit, I cut up a bunch of Fox squirrel cross-cuts, regulars and the parts of the skin I couldn't I shaved it down for a big bag of dubbing.

Those look real nice. I need to make me one of those cutters.
How did you injure your knee?
-
Honest truth I have no idea!! how I did it. Pulled the tendon and ligament, it has to be wrapped for 10 days and steroid/anti-inflamitory, had one day off and today was federal holiday. I go back to work Today - just have to keep it raised - I sit behind a desk so not to bad.

Hate to hear you are having trouble with the knee again. Take care of it and you really need to start tying "a lot" of zonker tyes :) :) Take care buddy.

Bummer you having that trouble! Nice looking zonkers!

Forgive my ignorance, but what the heck do you do with those?

Nice zonkers! Did you tan your own hide or just buy a whole hide? I need to learn how to tan my own. I've kept my own deer tails for years and just cured them with salt. Would be nice to be able to tan my own squirrel zonkers. :)

The squirrel skin I just cut a buddy sent to me and it was already tanned. I don't know how to tan skins. The multi colored rabbit strips I've done I used pieces that I got in the Hairline Rabbit Hide Pieces variety pack. http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/c...f/100_5864.jpg
They are the pieces left over when they square off the hides. They have some good size pieces in them and I can cut alot of strips. I've picked up some tanned rabbit skins at flea markets and a leather shop I go to.
