had this oak tree trimmed up and noticed every limb has a dark spot in the center. is this normal or is something wrong with my tree. it is about 10-12 years old.

Call your MSU County Extension Agent. If he can't tell you, he will know who can help you..And it is free
Call the Mississippi Forestry Commission....they do urban forestry too....they can tell you and help and it is free also

The County Extension office isn't far south of Tadpole's in Hernando.
James, I did some limb trimming too. For large limbs the first cut was about 2 foot from the trunk, the centers looks a reddish brown as normal. The cuts against the trunk were black centers. These were oak and hickory. Looking at the size of the acorns and hickory nuts there were 4 different trees of each.
I filled a 5 gal bucket with disc and stripes cut on my bandsaw for the smoker. These cuts are now a week old and all the centers are black.
emailed the forestry dept. they got right back to me. those are normal in oak trees.
