I wasn't planning on fishing today as Kowboy was under the weather. However, I woke up at 4:30 a.m. and knew I wouldn't go back to sleep so I got up and readied the boat and headed for Oconee. I started fishing around 7:00 a.m. The water was 67.7 degrees and stained. I long lined 8 rods out of the back of the boat and tipped with minnows. The first fish I caught was the biggest weighing 2 lbs. Several of the others were nice and fat and ranged between 12-13 inches. I kept about four fish in the 10-11 inch range. I ran out of minnows at 1:30 p.m. and ended up with 15 good fish. The winds made fishing open water difficult but the bite was good the entire time. I spent most of the day tying on hooks. I am out of practice when it comes to long lining.
