Report:Finally got enough for a picture. LOL
I've been peeking in on the site now and again but haven't posted for a good while. We somehow missed the main spawn here (Smith Mountain Lake) this year and we've been struggling to get more than a handful each trip out, we go any weekend it isn't pouring rain. But we have been catching them all summer long and nice sized ones just not great numbers. It's the first summer we've actually caught good sized ones so we're pretty happy with that. We don't know how to troll so they've all been dipping in trees over deep water and shooting docks.
We went all day today, caught lots, had pretty constant action except from about 11:30am until about 2pm, bite slowed way down for that little bit but we still caught some. Must've been time for siesta. Kept 14 nice ones for the freezer, smallest at 11" and biggest a little over 14". Most were around 15-20 feet deep in 20-40 depth. Water temp 59. They were all in the blowdowns, got very few at any docks where we usually get them...Except my favorite dock on the way back to the ramp gave us a three-in-a-row bonus with a 14" and two more, 13" and 13.5". And I got the bonus round😊 They were really liking the black and char stinger today. We picked up a couple yellow perch and a couple bass with that today too.
Talked with several boaters fishing for stripers and all of them said they weren't biting today.
I love fishing! Even when it's only about 45 degrees when we head out. Ha ha!
