Southern Crappie Rods

I know I've seen a thread or two about Southern Crappie Rods so someone must be using them. Never had one in my hand. As far as weight, how do they compare to other poles? 14 footers are what I'm interested in.

i have some 14fters only other 14 fters i had to compare them to are the pst`s.They are about like pst`s in weight,but may be alittle lighter.Ive used mine for about a year now and they seem tough and love the light action of the tip.yikes or cray on here would probally be the two best people to talk to if you want a comparision to other rods.

I think Rees Guide uses them. I know he has good things to say about em.

I've used them for several years. Longlining, pulling cranks, pulling planer boards. They are tough as nails. I know several folks who fished with mine in my boat have called Ed and bought their own. I have 12 and 14 footers.

In my opinion they are in between the PST and BGJP in weight and action. Good all around crappie pole.

I really like mine and they are tuff, actually single pole with one of my 14s in the Grenada tourney this past spring so the feel is very good too. Tip is very good too.

I sold two sets of B&M, and fish with Southern Crappie 14 & 16s. I don't plan on changing again

The Southern crappie rods are outstanding. We've been fishing with a set of 8 for well over a year and have pulled in crappie, catfish and bass. The tip action is light enough that you can see light bites but there's plenty of backbone to lift the fish and swing it in the boat. IMHO, you can't even compare the BGJP's to the Southerns. Paul and I are more than pleased with them. The first time I ever saw one was at camp when Cray was showing them to Yikess. He had Yikess hold that fishing pole and walked the jig all the way back toward him. That 14' rod was bowed in half and Yikess just knew it was gonna break. Needless to say, it didn't.
