Gold Creek Vegetation

If you haven't already notice, you soon will. Our contract sprayer did not follow instructions and sprayed a lot of the vegetation (including pads) up Gold Creek. We specifically instructed him to NOT spray past the highway bridge. Well he did NOT follow these instructions and sprayed all the way up the creek. Fortunately he did NOT spray in the cove. Obviously I am not happy about this. The good news is that it will grow back in a couple of years. This contractor will not make this mistake again.

Whatever happened to "close enough for government work"?

Caney Creek looks ad though it has been sprayed also.

That's unfortunate....

Why spray so much ? I know some can take over all the shallow water if left alone .

You answered your own question. On Conway the aligator weed gets out of control in areas that we spray every year. It is bad news on lakes like Conway. Two years ago we found it on Overcup in a few areas. This year it was all over the lake. It will soon get out of control like it is on some parts Conway. One sprig of it attached to your boat or trailer can spread it to an uninfested lake. That's why it important to look for stuff like this after you are done fishing a lake.

Who was the wild cat sprayer?

His name is JR. He does this kind if work all over the state. I wish he had some good competition. He is the only one in the state that has spray rigs on an airboat (which is needed on lakes like Conway).

Be careful for what you wish for. This stuff is no good. It would make a mess out there as well.

If anyone is thinking about transplanting alligator weed in another lake, think again. Not only is it illegal, it is a very bad idea.
