Ship, Alot of ice fishermen buy color powder you feed them a couple days before fishing the wax worms, pink used to be a all time favorite for ice fishing. Looked up the site I used to buy from and they don't even list the powders,-- bobbers down.Its after 2am time fer me beauty sleep. I will look at some more sites tomorrow, somebody has to have it ,was very popular stuff. food coloring may work just as well, maybe put some in their food.

Try adding food color to your minnow water a couple days before you plan to fish. Keep the minnows in the fridge if its real warm outside.Quote:

Color can mean a lot at times. We don't see a lot of colored waxies in this region, but during the winter months colored maggots really can help the bite. When I ice fished I always bought red colored spikes in packages of 1000 or 500 and had them along every time I hit the ice. There were days that sunfish would hit nothing but those red bugs. Crappies, if given the choice of waxies or spikes, seemed to prefer wax worms.
Waxies were available for a couple years in colored glow in the dark....red ones glowed red, green ones glowed green, blue ones glowed blue. They were fed food that had the glow pigments infused into it and the worms would build up a pile of the pigment inside them and actually glowed when they were charged with a light just like a jig head. The shelf life of the glow waxies was terrible though.
