Till they get through, not trying to be smart either. They had not started on the dirt work yesterday so it will most likely be tomorrow weather permitting. They will built a dam across the river just below the outlet and then pump out any water left between the temp dam and the gates, inspect and then remove as much dirt as they can before turning the gates back on. Best guess is a week if they don't have to do any repairs.
The last repair at Sardis took almost 4 months. Don't get in a hurry, they work 5 days per week.
They won't have the spillway closed for 4 months I can assure you, if they even thought there was a chance of that they would have pulled it down may more than what it is like they did last year when they fixed the slide on the lake side of the dam.
They was a dump truck dumping this afternoon.
Cool, saw the dozer down there yesterday but no trucks.
I saw a post on facebook from the CORP encouraging ppl to come get the fish when its drained. Did anybody see the fish on the drained side?
They will be closed for around 25 days. Weather pending.
I remember when they drained Sardis years ago. We picked up a lot of line mats that were loaded with sinkers. Some were good to reuse and some were cast into new sinkers. The last few times they roped off the area and won't let you enter. Never heard of the COE asking you to pick up fish and stuff.
We use to fish the spillway when the water was a crawl coming out of the tunnel. The water didn't cover the rocks on the upper half. There were some good crappie come out of the lower half.
Since the weir was built they maintain the lower lake at 7' on the gauge.
