Ross Barnett Res Panfishing Reports

I'm looking to make a trip up from Kenner/New Orleans area late this week or weekend and looking for any type of report from the area. I haven't been up that way fishing in a few years. Plan to spend two days fishing for (Bream/crappie). Plan on pulling my little Rhyan-craft 15ft/25hp and see if I can catch a few in some calm water/creeks/etc..

I don't see many reports lately. I know there use to be an Armada of boats under the spillway years ago when I lived in Vicksburg and would drive over. Any information would be appreciated.

The armada you are talking about is usually in late winter/early spring, and the water has to be very high (outflow around 8,000-14,000 cf) and has to crest and start falling..........that is when it's best. Right now, at Barnett spillway, water is very low and I would guess the only action would be for catfish. Just my 2c worth, lol. Good luck to you.

There's a couple spots that hold decent Bream. Up by Browns landing, I caught some nice ones in the grass this May. Crappie will be out in deep water at about 10-12 foot down in 18-25 FOW.

Follow the creeks in Pelahatchie creek. They are holding on the ledges in 8/10' of water. Gills, crackers & Crappie. small jigs with nibbles. Blk and chartruese .
