lake was full of crappie fishermen today
Went out today, to get a few crappie for dinner. Haven't crappie fished since spring, but decided to hit my favorite fall waypoint and see if the fish were there. As usual this time of the year, crappie just stacked up in a really small area. The area where I caught fish, is about 10ft wide by maybe 30ft. Get outside of that area and the electronics would be blank. In that area and it would just be stacked up crappie. Seems to be that way every year, though sometimes they do get more spread out. Think I've got 15 or so, biggest is close to 16", in the livewell waiting for me to go clean them.
Fried crappie, fried potato's with onion, and corn on the cob is what is on the menu tonight.
Biggest fish were in 20ft of water, and most of mine came a foot or so off bottom. Every fish caught tight lining a double tube jig setup. Saw a ton of people out fishing close to shore, couple guys spider rigging, couple folks trolling. Sure is a lot of ways to fish for crappie that work.
I'm personally a fan of one rod, and feeling a strike with my hand, or noticing the line stop falling when it shouldn't.
