Lake Bigeaux/Henderson?

My wife and I plus a couple of friends will be in Henderson on Sept 18th, on a houseboat out of Cypress Marina for a few days of relaxing. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share a few tips on fishing the area for Crappie and Bass. Now I ain't asking for your honey holes or secret bait, just any general info you might be willing to share about fishing the area in mid September. My wife loves fishing for bream and has never gone crappie fishing so I and hoping to get her on some slabs. Thanks and have a good one.

Pats is on the list for sure. We stayed on the same houseboat early in the year when the water was way up and everywhere, so the fishing was off, but Pat's was excellent. Thanks for the advice I will PM and see if Ranger-go-getter has any thing for me.

:welcome to Crappie.com......conditions at Henderson can change over night....several things, ask the folks at Cypress Cove for info.....or any fisherman around the landing......watch where other boats go....the water is falling now....should be around El. 9 feet when you get here coming down from a high 15 1/2 feet......fish may be moving around.....fish laydowns and points....try shallow (18"-24") and deep.....popular jig colors are blue & white and black & chartreuse......find a spot called "the railroad pilings".....it is deep there and could be holding some big ones......good luck....

ditto on Pat's seafood.....try the fried shrimp or the crabmeat au gratin.......dip the French fries in the tarter sauce....

I appreciate the input I have been looking at google maps and found a big pile of tree logs near one of the marinas and some good looking points with submerged trees or rocks. No luck on the railroad ties though.

I wanted to say thanks for all of your input for the trip. We did not do to good on the crappie, moved around and tried all the spots suggested and only caught two over three days. Caught plenty of brim and a few blue cats for a fish dinner so I am a happy man. Thanks again all.
