Santee 9/11/2015 Report
On this most somber day in Amercan history, I chose to go to the lake and jig a few brush piles as I reflected on the events that unfolded some 14 years prior. It amazes me how vivid my memories are of that terrible day. I started my day taking advantage of the low water conditions by driving rebar and placing PVC into stumps that are located in channels I use frequently. When my chores were done I began my pursuit of my most favorite species, the crappie. I found the fishing to be a good bit slower than weeks prior, but did catch a fish here and there which added up to a nice limit. All fish were caught in waters between 5 and 12 feet. Water temps were in the low 80's. Heavy overcast skies were present all day. Winds blew at 5 to 8 knows out of the west. Water clarity was clear to slightly stained. All fish caught on 1/32 ounce Rooty Tooty 309's in white and chartreuse.

I saw this huge red wasp nest before they saw me

I sure remember that day. Good report and nice pix. Glad you did not fight the wasps.

Good report Tim. I am allergic to wasp stings, I would have bailed overboard if they came after me. Nice looking catch of crappie.
I would imagine everyone remembers what they were doing on 9/11/01. I also remember what i was doing when Kennedy was assassinated.

I remember that day very well.
I remember this deer club I was in that I went to 4 different stands and those red wasp were just buzzing all around them.
Congratulations on your limit Tim! Thanks for the report and pics.

Good report and pics. Hate to have to get close to the wasp nest but at time it does happen. That is the biggest nest I have seen in a long while.
