Hello Fellow Georgia Crappie Slayers!

This is my first post and I just wanted to say hello to all the crappie slayers in GA! My son and I got started again in July after a 19 year hiatus and we are looking forward to learning this game again. We've had a pretty dismal start but we hope to learn more about our local lakes and start catching some slabs pretty soon. I spent 4 days on Blackshear and caught 1 catfish and 1 striper! The mayflies were hatching and I don't think they were too hungry. We've fished West point and Jackson as well but still have yet to catch a crappie! I know we'll eventually find 'em and reel some in but we're still having fun just tryin'! :fish

In a couple weeks the air/water will cool and the bite will be on. Will be heading to Eufaula and Blackshear before the trips to Talquin. May start next week. Welcome from the hooker

welcome to crappie.com site .crappie bite is slow . they are hanging to brush piles and not biting to good . water should cool down and the crappie will be biting good .

Thanks for the welcome and I can hardly wait for them to start biting good! It makes it a lot harder to find them when you can see them on the fish finder but can't make 'em bite! I'm from east Tennessee and know those lakes because I grew up fishing them. These Georgia lakes are all brand new to me so if you all have any tips I'd shore be glad to listen and learn!

Thank you all for the warm welcome and I can"t wait for them slabs to start a bitin'! I've been trying to "learn" some of the local lakes but it's hard when they ain't cooperatin'. I grew up in east Tennessee and know my way around those lakes fairly well. It's just hard trying to remember all the things we used to do 20 years ago and alot of tactics and fishing styles have changed as well. Looking forward to talkin' with all of you and if you have any suggestions for newbies I'm all ears. I love catchin' fish but there is one thing I love more......that's watchin' my 15 year old son catch 'em. THAT'S what it's all about and I'm enjoyin' every minute of it.

I'm glad you are coming back to Crappie fishing. Wont be long now, Iv'e been jigging a few out of the river holes and farm ponds near the house. I hope to be heading to Blackshear and Lake Talquin soon. I might even try and sneak up and follow Hooker around Eufaula. :biggrin

Thanks Dutch! The mayfliess were hatchin' out and everything was covered with 'em while we were there. I caught 1 striper and 1 catfish. I fished the railroad bridge and the 280 bridge as well as around the docks. Did some trolling but didn't locate much on the south side of 280. Didn't venture out on the north side as this was our first time on the lake and wasn't sure of the tree/stump situation. Main thing is we were fishing and havin' fun anyway.I really expected alot more boat traffic during the holiday but it was really quiet.
