AutoChart Success
So I finally got AutoChart Pro after thinking about it for a while. Been making some recordings on my 1198 on the boat and on my Helix 5 on the kayak of my local lake. It's 785 acres with a max depth around 16 feet. Still have lots more mapping to get it complete, but the south areas I did do, painted a heck of a picture. Specifically, bottom hardness as it relates to contours. Here's a cropped image:

The transition from the soft (blue) bottom to hard (red) is illustrated. The lake gets very hot during the summer, mid 90s. Today, it finally dropped under to about 88 degrees. I knew the specks would be out in the deeper areas, usually holding 8-10 feet deep in the 12-14 range for increased oxygen, but I was amazed to really isolate them based on bottom hardness. The transition areas are where they were. They related more to the bottom composition than to any particular contour. Very exciting stuff. I trolled two 5'6" ultralight rods with 1/16 roadrunners and some Bobby Garland Baby Shad and Baby Shad Swimrs. Had a double hook up and lots of action. All released to fight another day.
