:yikes "Just how big a ol boy are you?" - Roy D. Mercer
Can't get over how he's grown since last year, John! That boy is gonna put a hurtin' on some folks in the future. Isn't he just in the 10th grade now? I see a college scholarship in his future. Thanks for the post.
Good luck to your son and his team this year. Yes it is almost that time of year and I love fall and football. Go hogs and cowboys.
To answer Roy's question: 5'11" 260 lbs
To answer your question: Yes, he's a 10th grader
John is a good boy and has worked out/ practiced all summer getting up at 7 a.m. weekday mornings and heading off to the field house. After that, he and a friend have kept 5 yards mowed all summer long as well. Lots of afternoons, he would drag in around 3 o'clock, take a shower, and go to bed. He's really grown up a lot. Still got some growing to do too, not a whisker on that baby face yet. Man, he'd kill me for that one. :)
He and a friend went to the UCA camp back in June and the two of them held their own against everyone there, as far as the linemen went. The UCA coaches told them that they were going to keep up with them and offered both John and his friend (and their families) free Bears tickets. Coach told them to just let him know what game they wanted to come to.
The Hooten's Arkansas football preview had good things to say about our Harmony Grove Hornets and mentioned several key players and what was expected from them this year, John being one of them. First game is against Bearden on September 4. Bearden is always tough and we'll see what we've got right out of the gate. GTT
Ski Trip, I sat here for a minute thinking about just how much my son is growing and changing. Not just football, but the boy growing into a young man. Almost teared up. I better enjoy these next three years because after they are gone, he'll be gone off to college where I won't see him everyday. Makes me sad.
Here's a 4th grade peewee football pic that one of the kids' mother took just before they ran out on the field. It's a family favorite.

This was 6 years ago. Seems like last week. GTT
GTT, no doubt Mariota was a tremendous QB at Oregon and hopefully he will do the same for your Titans.

This is my son's senior year at Bryant. I am looking forward to this year and hate it that it's his last year. My youngest son is sidelined again this year due to his cancer treatment so this will be my first season that I won't be coaching football. Gonna miss being on the field with him and all the kids, next year he will start school ball, so our pee-wee days are over. Good luck to all the teams and be safe. GO HORNETS!!
Good luck to both of your sons. Looks like you got a big ol boy too! Go Hornets! GTT
