I'm a proud owner of Two New AC-Delco

M27MF Batteries!!! I should be able to throw a "Rooster Tail" behind my trolling motor now! 720 Marine cranking amps!! I'm just happy and proud of my new big honkin batteries, I'm gonna put them right next to my bed tonight so I can look at them!! Thanks for the advice Slab Hunter and Green Shiner!

IT's Time To FISH Y'ALL!!! Anybody gonna brave the weather this weekend? I'm thinkin it oughta be GOOOD! I Might try Chenniere Lake here by the house tommorow, I hear Darbonne is awful muddy right now.

How bad did it hurt the pocket book? I was looking at the Optima's and good lord they are high. I'd like to get a sealed maintenance free do hickey.. my current batteries are shot because i neglected to check the fluid level and now they dont want to keep a good charge.

Hey CD, I've been here a while just been hiding in the woods. It's about time to clean up the guns and get out the poles. I hear they have been catching on Cross lateley... I cant decied where i want to go.. its between Cross and the River. Probably arround the end of the month...

Yea they hit me for about a hundred bucks apiece but from all the folks I've talked to they are about the best on the market. I have a smaller Delco (620MCA) that has lasted about 6 years. I have been really bad on my batteries though, not topping them off when I get back and over cooking them but that one AC Delco hung in there for a long time. I went through one Exide and one Everstart and got about two years out of each of them. Slab Hunter slapped me back to reality when I was about to buy a couple of Everstarts again. The Delco's are just more reliable and last a lot longer.

On another note: I picked up the old deer rifle this morning because of all the wind, jumped two does walking back to the truck. My deer season is about over. I'm hittin the lake as soon as the weather cooperates.

UNLESS THEY HAVE SOMETHING I DONT KNOW ABOUT THEN THE OPTIMA BATTERY JUST DONT MEASURE UP IN RES CAP.
WHY PAY DOUBLE FOR LESS?
MOST DEEPCYCLE BATTERIES ARE MEASURED IN RES CAP INSTEAD OF MCA OR CCA OR CA.
IN ORDER TO HAVE MORE RES CAP THEN THE LEAD PLATES MUST BE THICKER , THERE FORE DEEPCYCLE. USUSALLY THE HIGHER THE RES CAP , THE LOWER THE CCA, BUT NOT ALWAYS.
DURING THE EARLY '80'S, AND THE GAS SHORTAGE, THE GOVT DEMANDED SMALLER VEHICLES. SO IN ORDER TO CUT DOWN ON SIZE OF CAR BATTERIES, THE BATTERY MANUFACTURERS HAD TO MAKE LEAD PLATES THINNER AND THINNER TO MAINTAIN CCA'S.

I WOULD ALWAYS RECOMMEND, WHEN CHOOSING A DEEPCYCLE TROLLING BATTERY, TO LOOK AT AND COMPARE THE RESERVE CAPACITY MINUTES @ 25 AMPS AND IGNORE THE CCA RATING.

JUST MY 2 CENTS.

Been using Delco sealed batteries for several years on my last 3 boats. Would not use anything else. Cost about 100 dollars each but well worth the money. Never having to remember to fill with water is worth at least one battery a year. When you come home from fishing place the batteries on charge and they last even longer. Sealed Delcos and onboard charger is the best thing that ever happened to this lazy old man.:)

Thanks for the reply's. I guess the High dollar optima's just looked pretty to me but the Delco is starting to look better now.
