picked up some kentucky lake maps, i got the north and the central but no southern, by southern i mean south of big sandy, do they make such a map? is there any need to venture to that area?

If you do go down in there, stay in the marked channels. You can find yourself in just a few inches of water pretty quick. Not saying there's not fish down there, just slow down your first couple of times into an area.
I had to order the south map from atlanticmapping.com.
It runs from White Oak creek/Big Sandy area all the way to Pickwick. It really narrows down once you get south of I-40. Don't seem to hear much info about the south end, but I think it's pretty country for riding the water. Went over the river at Clifton and the 412 bridge at Perryville last Sat and there was a bunch of boats on the water.
Good fishing around Birdsong, Eva, Cypress Creek, Eagle Creek, Harmons Creek, just to mention a few. I've only fished in the spring though when the water is in the buck bushes. Lot of stump and stake beds.
