My buddies and I would like to charter a boat out of OI for offshore fishing. We would prefer to target yellow fin tuna, mahi and maybe the odd wahoo if available. I was looking for suggestions on the best time to go and for any boat recommendations. I'm just starting my research, so any help is appreciated.
Give Capt. Jamie a call and he will answer all your questions. I have fished with him many times over the last 30+ years, and he knows the business better than anyone else. He finds and brings in fish when many others fail.

Mahi bite is going to slow down as we go through August. The yellowfin tuna bite picks up in September. August is always a tough month. You can still wear them out though on any given day. Just more hit an miss.
The captain we went out with is retired now. Captain Buddy Canady or Captain BC is what his boat name was and what everybody called him. Built those Carolina flare bowed charter boats in the winter too. Those are some interesting guys down there.
