My youngest will be moving to Columbus soon. How's the fishing there? Not just crappie, he's like me and likes to catch whatever is biting.
Thanks

My Daughter lived there for awhile and I would go visit her with my boat. You have multiple pools of the Tenn-Tom waterway right in Columbus. Columbus lake and Aliceville Pool. I have fished in both and done fine Bass & Crappie.
I wondered if the crappie fishing was as good over there as in some of the NW Mississippi lakes.
They may not be the biggest but for sure some of the wildest ! The river fish seem to hit hard and run strong . JMO. This is not to say there are not larger fish there . I never caught or saw a crappie there three lbs. there but it gets two thumbs up from me because it's a single pole heaven with tons of cypress .
Sounds good, I'm strictly single pole fisherman myself.
I'll pass this along, thanks.
If you single pole you will love it. Lots of crappie in the 3/4 to 2 lb range. The are the best eating crappie in the state in my opinion, something about that running water. I fish Nader but fill my freezer on the waterway. The bass and catfishing are exceptional also. The crappie tend to run in groups according to size, so if your catching little ones move on. EVERYTHING RELATES TO THE CURRENT AND/OR THE LACK OF IT. Just takes time to figure out.
