Fished for a couple of hours this morning. I did NOT get the first bite! Tried minnows at several places going down to just about the dam. I even trolled for a while without any hits.
CAUION!
You can see the end of the ramps at the Big Allison landing. I had just enough water to get my boat off the trailor.
There is a sheer drop of a foot at the end of each ramp. Big trouble if you back off.
Ouch! I guess I can scratch Allison of the list of ramps I'll use. The Pontoon would surely find the drop off

I read a trick one time for getting your trailer back up on the ramp if you back off and it is stuck on the drop off. It only works in a specific situation so you be the judge as to whether it would work for you.
What you do is run your winch strap all the way out and under the roller at the end of the trailer.(yes you have to get wet to do this) Then run it up and hook it to the bow eye on your boat. This assumes you can get your boat that close and the bow eye is well above the roller. Then crank the winch to lift the trailer tires above the drop off. Then slowly drive your car forward until the wheels are on the ramp. Then unhook the strap and load as usual.
I am not sure my winch strap is long enough to do this, but you could tie a rope to the end of it and accomplish the same thing.
Thankfully I have never had to do this, but it is a good trick to have in your pocket should you ever need it.
Good tip Ray. Definitely worth a try vrs tearing axles out from under a trailer.
it sure aint no fun to drop off the ramp been there and done that and have helped many others get there's back on too

it took 3 of us to do it but the way we got mine and others up was we had
one man on each front corner of my toon dropped anchor down and hooked
both back corners of trailer and picked it up and one man in truck drove it out
warning !!! if you have more then 3 this method will not work very well ===
last one we pulled up had 3 on toon 3 in the water and one woman trying to
drive the truck liked to killed me and my "dawgg" and the three in the water
all needed is 2 on boat to tell each other when to pick up when its up tell the driver to go
enery body else just shut up and stand back out of way...
Interesting Ray! If there are two of you you can run the strap the same way under the back roller and hook it to the front of the boat and have one person back the boat out to raise the trailer as the other person pulls the truck forward enough to get the tries back on the ramp.Quote:
