Shabbona 7/25

Me and my 2 boys went to shabbona to see what was going on. Everyone I talked to said crappie were in deep trees. Since it's a 10hp lake I was stuck to side scanning with trolling motor. Got good images at 1.2mph which surprised me cause I've never scanned at such a slow speed. Well after about an hour of scanning majority of the deep trees. I came across a sharp break in creek channel where it ran close to some trees and brush. Went from 30+ to 6ft. A crazy drop right. We set up on the downwind side and dropped are bobber rigs set a 4.5 foot and it was on like donkey kong. Non-stop action for about 2hrs. They were in that shallow brush and trees thick. Caught about 45 or so. Only kept 20. My boys had a blast. It was a shallow bite. Mostly 10-11 in fishAttachment 210303Attachment 210304

Nice catch! I'm heading out there on Friday morning. Sounds like they're moving more shallow now, I had been reading that they were holding deeper.

Yep. Love putting the boys on the crappie. They are addicted just as much as me. Going back tomorrow. Found some good spots they were holding to. Hope for good results.
