What poles are yall using to push crankbaits?
I use 12-14 ft PST by B&M. The CrappieMax Titeline special are good and the TrollTec by Lews are the best but most expensive.
Thanks. I have been using my PST, but it just seems like the 3oz wieght puts a big bow in them.
I run 12' PST's and also Crappie Maxx (Medium action). I notice that there is quite a bit more bow in the PST's than the Crappie Maxx. I definitely like the Crappie Maxx more for pushing cranks but do like the versitlity of using the PST's for pushing minnows as well. I just started pushing cranks and that was the main reason I went to pushing instead of pulling....didn't have the need to buy more equipment!!
I just started to, actually this last weekend was my first time to try it. I'm like you trying to use what I already have ( 12ft pst's) for spiderriging. I was jus kinda worried about the bow in the them.
Thanks
If I remember correctly, and those are not good odds some days, the tag on the b/m pst states field tested with 5 oz weight up to 2 mph. Maybe someone with access to a new package pst could check. It's the cardboard tag and is printed on inside. Use these rods and 3 oz and have not had issues yet.
Actually the PST was designed for pushing up to 5 oz weights for guys who power troll jigs. They usually push jigs with big weights up to 2.0 or faster. Yes they get a good bow in them but they still will handle the fish with no problem.
The Wally Marshall Troll Tech are the best hands down for pulling or pushing cranks. they maybe a little more expensive but they are worth it. I have been fishing cranks for 8 years and have not broken a tip on a fish or a hang up and trust me I am hard on my rods.
