Use Scott V's pushing chart here to get an estimate of your depth. He's on the Mississippi board and the Members Classified forum ....lot of good info on the Mississippi site for pushing and pulling...it's addictive for sure !! This is for pushing only... pulling is a whole nother ballgame .

If I'm understanding the question correctly, you're asking how long a leader you need between the weight & crank .... to which my answer would be : 3 to 5ftQuote:

That is correct Crappiepappy. I have 14 ft trolling rods. and 2 oz. weights and 300 bandits.
But was wondering if the cranks would go much deeper if I had lets say 10 ft of line down
and was figuring for a little bit of depth for the crank bait.

The crank will dive a little deeper than the 2oz weight, but I'm not sure how much. It would run deeper on 10ft of leader, than on 3ft or 5ft of leader, but it may only be a few inches more .... then again it could be a foot or more. I really don't know.Quote:

I'm neither equipped to, nor experienced in, pushing cranks, myself. I'm going on what I know my state members & fishing buddies are doing/saying. In fact, I'm just barely into pushing jigs (out of my own boat) and have limited experience with Spider Rigging (in other boats). I've only actually "pulled" cranks (either out of my own boat or from a friend's boat). If it don't quit raining, or threatening to storm every day, I'm not sure I'm even going to get to go fishing often enough to even consider purchasing the necessary equipment to be able to "push" cranks, if I wanted to. :Doh: (we've already lost March & April to flooded lakes, this year)
