Toledo Bend, What The Heck?

Need to know from you guys if your side of the lake has done the same thing or not?

I have not been out myself, let me start with that. Our Hydrilla had been making a grand come back since a couple years ago when we just lost it for the most part. Talking with my neighbors last evening. They had been fishing that morning and caught 4 bass, but also found that almost all the Hydrilla was just gone! There is a big ridge that comes up from deep water to like 13' on top and was covered with Hydrilla is now bald! They could only manage to find some small patches of grass and that is where they caught the fish. They are thinking maybe it's the high water and the sun can't get to it enough and maybe some went back into winter type mode, but I sure hope we are not starting over again!

Mind you this was all in just the last week!

I wouldn't say for sure, but I would think that any plants not rooted down would have been floated away with the amount of current going through the lake this year.

I always thought the Hydrilla is attached to the bottom since it rises from there all the way to the top in summer. I still need to get into boat and go see for my self, but I am talking about a lot of Hydrilla and it was there a week earlier? Heck it was everywhere to the top of the water in 16-17 foot water depth!

I've noticed that it's not near as thick as it was in the spring...I figure high muddy water...

I hope that's all it is, but some of these places just a week before were covered in Hydrilla.

Yes, it is. But, as I learned at Indian Creek last weekend, it is very easy to uproot. The soil is obviously always wet and is very soft. The roots give way with very little resistance.
