I've only caught a few my entire life. They are ultra-cool looking.
Rocky Fork Lake is rated as the "TOP CHOICE" in Crappie Size in the ODNR fishing reports.
Congrats

Asking myself why I have never been there after reading that. :dono
We've caught several in the Ohio River creeks..... One in Weiss lake Alabama ...... And one in a boars head tourney...... Never at RF though...... Cool looking fish...... All of em I've caught have been small ones also
You'll find them in lakes with Black Crappie or lakes that have been stocked with hybrids with at least one Black Crappie Parent....it is a recessive black stripe gene. They spawn like any other Crappie and are very cool to catch!
Here is one of my black nose crappie for those who has never seen one. Everyone I've caught seem to run small in size, like most of the fish I catch.....

Ha ha yeah ...
Your blacknose is just about the size of the one I caught at Tanners this spring
Started to toss him back in when I realized he was a black nose ...
Now they really need to start growing to 17.5 and weigh about 3 pds - so I can be happy!
Attachment 207895They get big!
Never caught one in OH but caught quite a few in TN.
