TRailer Axle Thickness question
I have a small crappie boat - pretty lightweight (1977 15' fiberglass Cane Cutter w/50 hp) its currently on a small trailer with a 1.25" C-channel axle and 1" spindles. Got trailer for free and its old. The threads stripped out on one of the spindles when I changed bearings, ordered a new spindles/hubs kit and its on the way. I have a piece of galvanized pipe with what appears to be 1/8" wall thickness. 1.25" ID. Same wall thickness as the c-channel thats on it. Question is - Will the pipe be stronger than the c-channel? Its set up now with the opening of the c channel facing downward, leaves on top. Planning on welding the spindles in the pipe myself and bolting it back together. Adding angle iron where needed for the leafs to sit on. Just want to make sure the pipe will be sturdy enough. Its only 60" wide end to end.
Thanks for any advice.
