Weedless Pony Jig Head
I hope Do-It is paying attention as they need to expand their crappie weedless jighead line!!!!!!!!!!
Here is how I mod my pony head to a weedless.
1st take off the wire hanger that comes standard with the mold. To date I've had no use for it except this. I cut a straight piece off of the wire and line it up on the mold where I want my fiberguard to rest.

Once lined up in the mold where I want it, I close the mold and squeeze as hard as I can until it puts an imprint into the mold where I want to cut the fiberguard.

I then hook up this attachment, found at your local Lowes or Home Depot, and set the depth to the same depth as the Do-it weedless mold fiberguard. The bit is also found at Lowes or Home Depot and is about 1/16" wide.

Take your clamps and clamp on mold so that the Dremel bit lines up with the grove cut into the mold.

I then run the Dremel tool back and forth until the proper size grove is met. This usually takes a bit as you will need to put a fiberguard into the mold and cut until it closes properly.

And the end result is this. Enjoy.

Nice mod - could you use the teflon pins to do your pours then powder paint and just glue them after??
-
FMan do the teflon pins work well? What glue do you use to put the fiber in with? Sorry Nip, don't mean to hijack, but curious minds want to know!!LOL

I don't know if the Teflon pins they sell come this small. The ones I saw were bigger for bass jigs.
Think you just use superglue Kirk.

Here is a statement from Barlows about the Teflon pins they sell.
"Teflon pins are available in 2 sizes. 1/8 for use in molds that use fg-30 fiber bundles, and 5/32 for use in molds that use fg-40 fiber bundles."
Need to find a smaller pin for FG-9 and 12 guards. Looking at McMaster Carr the Teflon pins only come in 1/8" and higher. The heat tubing Barlows sell is for 1/8" and bigger. Maybe wrapping guards in a thick aluminum foil will work??? Maybe just need to find something, a rivet pin or whatever and use it for a pin. Spray it with some casting release and then pour the lead. Will add this to my "To do list".

DRNip,
Posed the teflon pin size for the 9 and 12 fiber guard to a buddy of mine on another board. He makes his own for the fg-30 and 40. He may know right off what size bar to get from McMaster Carr or if someone carries them. I'll let you know.
