George Orwell revisited
Excellent, lessons to be learned/re-learned. Enjoying them:

"All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others." - Animal Farm
"He who controls the past controls the future. He who controls the present controls the past" - 1984
Beats reality television hands down around this household. Just sayin....

Read Animal Farm many years ago when I was to young and naïve to appreciate it. Need to read it again. Have not read 1984 that I can remember, although something sound vaguely familiar about it. One I have seen on some chat rooms lately that I never read is "To kill a Mockingbird" so I have that on my to do list as well.

Thanks Ray, not many of us around any more. Ray Bradbury's classic Fahrenheit 451 needs to be on your list as well. You'll see how the reality television today is destroying our society. I know "To kill a Mockingbird" verbatim, excellent. Thanks so much for your post.

Randy, on a different vein, have you read Gordon MacQuarrie's books? The Old Duckhunters Trilogy plus a couple of others. I have all his books and reread then several times a year. Few writers today can paint a picture like he could. Mama won't let me read them in bed because I wake her up laughing our loud at some of his forays. There are duck hunting stories but mainly they are stories about his fishing with his father in law on the Brule River in Wisconsin. As a friend of mine said after reading his books, "He would make a dog laugh!".

Thanks Ray. That book is kinda pricey being in hardback only. I order many books off Amazon.com, surprised they make any profit sometimes as cheap as they are. Also order books from Bas Bleu and Daedalus quite often if you have heard of them. I read a lot, so does Ann. The way we roll.

Yep, pricey there. I just sent the link so you could see what it looked like. Most libraries carry some of his books and also check out used book stores.

Okay, thanks Ray. We have a nice used book store in Carencro - tons of books. They have been around for a very long time. Found an old Petroleum Engineering textbook and inside was a loose old ink pen engineering drawing folded up of a drilling derrick - dated 1918. Framed it:

Sorry about the picture quality, on the wall along the staircase upstairs. Thought it was cool.
