Summer patterns
Hello all, another Fl boy checking in.
I mostly fish the St Johns (volusia co) I have mostly speck fished in the fall/winter months drifting minnows. What type of structure should I be looking for during the summer heat. Not looking for anybody's spot, just trying to figure out what I should be looking for to find the fish this time of year.

Crappie (spec's) ea
t year round.................they are supposedly easier to catch
between Nov & Febr in Florida area.
Most lakes in Fl are shallow - up side down bowls. very, little structure, mostly
grass- hydrillia - and contour lines...........which it a known fact Fl crappie will
lie in ambush mode in 4" contour.
Depending on area you are targeting - lakes - rivers - etc - we may be able to help
your catch rate improve

Blowdowns that fell into the water, roots hanging from undercut banks, hyacinths backed up against a tree just to name a few.

Well, not having a trolling motor or depth finder yet had made it a little tougher than it should be, but after several trips trying to find them I bailed on the river and fished a local lake that I know is full of them. I went straight into the fall fishing methods and caught 11 fish before they shut down, no monsters but were all between 11"-14". I will be getting with "shut up and fish" soon to correct not having a troller and should be able to stay on top of the schools.
