Report from Caney Lake for 6-5-15 With PICTURES
I woke Diane up around 6:00 and we headed to Caney Lake. I started fishing the boat houses that I caught fish off of the last time I went; nothing but a chinquapin. I had never boated from the launch at the dam up to Brown's Landing on Hwy 4; so off we go, just riding and looking and spending the day enjoying God's world and our time together.
After we arrived at the store, Diane decide she needed to go in. When she returned I told her we just had to try the bridge. Bridges draw two things; crappie and me. We pulled up to the bridge and the third toss to one of the pilings produced an 11 inch crappie.
To make a long story short; we sat under the bridge, in the shade, with a nice breeze between 9:30 and 11:30 and kept 19 crappie and a 4lb catfish. All of the fish were caught on 1/32oz gray hair jigs. We threw back several that did not meet my 10 inch minimum.
It was so funny to watch my wife, who is afraid of catfish, to battle the 4lb cat. The catfish had her pole doubled and she was squealing her head off. I wish I had a video of it all. At least I have the memories. Thank You, Lord Jesus.
