Fishin double minnow rig

While fishing this rig last weekend vertically off the front of a none moving boat the 3 way swivel would keep getting tangled up so I'm going to try another style this weekend and see if it's any better. If anyone has any suggestions for a rookie please chime in see pictures below ... The 1st pic is of the old rig and 2nd pic is a close up of the 3 way swivel the 3rd pic is the new rig I'm thinking of trying the beads are glass and I was thinking sound and color may help or would you just not add them? 4th pic is a close up of the beads Any input good or bad I'll take

I put the weight at the bottom and the 2 hooks spaced above. Two reasons: 1 it does not tangle as easily as the weight in the middle. 2. It is easier for me to feel the bottom when I can bounce the weight off and reel up a foot or so.
But, lots of folks rig it like yours and like it, so take your choice.

No pictures but you might try tying one of these. Take a #8 or # 10 barrel swivel, pull about 12 inches of line through one eye and tie a clinch knot ( not a improved clinch ) then measure off 20 inches on the other side of line and cut that off spool. On the long one slide on your weight, then bead then tie on another barrel swivel. Then tie about 8 in dropper with hook to that. Tie hook on top dropper leaving 6-8 inches. No tangles.

I do what you do Ray. Like the weight on the bottom to feel what's down there.

I use Capps and Coleman rigs, 3/4 oz. they never get tangled when transporting, seldom get broken off from bottom, light wire hooks straighten out first, and if you get lines crossed on a hook up like a gar, it takes seconds to replace. I tie a swivel on the line first, then the rig, so when a mess happens I can put new rig on, and try to fix the mess later.
The only down side is two hooks instead of three, and if you get a 2 pound plus crappie, you will need a net so the hook doesn't straighten. They cost more than if you do it yourself, but I have had a hassle getting my own rigs off a piece of styrofoam without tangles.
Bottom line, you keep your lines in the water longer. That is priceless

Im in this club too...And there have been many times ive only had bites when hopping that weight across the bottom real slow. I think the disturbance and the debris cloud get thier attention. I use a 1/2 oz weight and 2 hooks on 6" leaders spaced about 16" apart and up from the weight. The fishing has been tough on my local lake for a while now and the handful ive gotten have been on that rig.

Buy Capps & Coleman's

I've done good with the Caps n Coleman rig, tie my own. Easy to store and transport.

Be sure your top leader with hook is shorter than the position of the weight. If it is equal or lower than the weight you will have lots of tangles.
