No wonder my motor wasnt peeing sunday
That will do it every time.
Makes sense to me
How old was the impeller?
:yikes
WOW. I have a '98 40hp Merc that needs a shot of air back down the hole to get it peeing every year. But, I wonder now after seeing your 2 year old one. DP
Yours is pretty much the same motor as mine except mines an 2000 or 2001. It wouldn't hurt to change it. It's only about a 30-45 minute job. There's 4 bolts you can see. Unscrew the linkage and a nut right above the prop. There's a couple good YouTube videos on doing it
I was told by an outboard mechanic that I use, that it only takes 6 seconds running an outboard out of water to burn up a water impeller.
I have also been told what Armyman was told. When the chunks get small and break up they sometimes go up into the powerhead and lodge there, blocking the water passage causing a tear down to free them. Cheap insurance to change them more often than needed.
