Jig box
Since I seem to be spending all my time fooling with boats rather than fishing, I decided to try something I had in the back of my mind for a while. My jigs are stuffed in compartments in my Plano box and it is hard to see what I've got and what sizes. This is kind of a huge fly box type setup. I have one of the Tupperware bacon keepers that we store bacon in the freezer which I thought was just the size I needed so I tried to order one only to find it is discontinued. Thanks to Ebay/Amazon I found one for $10 including shipping. I cut one of the foam Knee pads like you use in the garden to cushion you knees to size and placed my jigs in it,
Works good, but now I need a way to store all the jig bodies that go with the jig heads.

Looks great Ray! good Idea! But now can you show us your go to lure out of all those jigs? It would be greatly appreciated. lol!!:biggrin Just kidding!

Well the one I always go to on brush piles is the Rooty Tooty 309 which is in the top left corner of the box. The Gnats that Donald ties are on the right in the 3rd row and they work good on White Perch with and without minnows on them. Got some of Stumphunters jigs in there as well. Use them longlining, which on Murray has been a struggle for me.
Many of the bare jigs heads are from Curtis (Litewirehooker).
Can't say I don't support our guys, even if I don't catch a lot of fish.
By the way, the black jigs over on the left on the 3rd row are Rooster Jigs. They don't make them anymore but they have tiny treble hooks in the tail just like the Rooster Tail spinners they still make. When I first started trolling for crappie in the 70s, I would go nuts with the short strikers that pecked at the jig tail but never hooked up. The Rooster Jig solved that problem, but I have not seen them in a while. Another reason for my box. I did not know I had any of them left, but now they are easy to see.

Hey Ray have you seen the Meat Getter Jigs? Thinking about ordering some of those, kinda looks like the Gnats.

I have, but the Gnats were the first ones I read about and Donnie seems to be a top notch guys, (like all CDC members) so I ordered from him. I have since seen the Meat Getter and they look very similar.

Looking good Ray, good to see you are keeping yourself busy. It amazes me how jigs can get in such a mess even in divided boxes.
