Bernie, That's good to know. I've had nothing but good luck with Leo and the boys at King Marine in Cape Girardeau, MO. Cape is in SE MO. and very near I-55. Easy to get to. Good turn around time and very knowlegable guys. They take pride in their work and are fun to work with. Their work area looks like a tornado went thru it, but those boys know where every single little thing is and what its for. I always said a clean desk is from a guy too worried about a clean desk instead of getting work done. If you need help in the Southeast Mo area contact King Marine at 573-334-6755 and tell'em Jim from Perryville sent you. You'll get the brother-in-law discount.....an extra 25% charge!!lol
Ol so true, so true!!!
good read
I just got thru getting my boat fixed at a cost above $2000.00 and the mechanic that fixed it is great. Kelly Norton has a business named Kelly's Outboard Repair. He is located on Highway 300 on the left just before you cross Smoak Bridge. Kelly will definitely treat you right and he is very fair with his prices. My boat runs great now. We are so fortunate to have such a boat mechanic like Kelly here on Lake Blackshear.
I disagree with a free estimate. You get what you pay for IMO. A well run shop does not give aways it's time. They have to be profitable to stay in .
Price should only be part of your decision on a rebuild. There's more to a rebuild than Price.
Part's quality is a issues that I would leave up to the shop I use, not the internet.
Hey jig rig I fully agree with you. My mechanic charged a fee for the estimate and actually came under his estimate and he used top quality parts.
See....more than one way to skin a cat.
I guess I'm lucky. The bus mechanic at the high school where I teach just happens to work on boats and motors on the side. Good man with extensive knowledge about Mercury outboards. GTT
The only time you truly appreciate a good mechanic is after you've been taken advantage of and basically had your money stolen and the problem is still there when they're done. This happened to me. I guess they saw me coming. The next one was a keeper. Diagnosed in the driveway and told me more in the first 5 minutes than the others figured out in 3 months. That was in '09 and I haven't had the need to go back. Here in Middle Tennessee I know of no one more fair and accurate than buddy at Winchester Stereo and Marine. An unusual name for a great business. 931-962-2808 will put you in touch with one of the best.
