Dave I fished today and the lake is 3 to 4 feet high and the waves were 3 feet. Went up past Meca and it was very muddy. Went back to Roberts and caught 10 but only 5 were keepers. Wind did die down some after 6 but the fishing didn't improve. Looks like the old Smithville spring again. Been a few years since the lake looked like this.
My son and I went yesterday afternoon and fished for about four hours. We were surprised by how high the lake had risen. Very familiar tress and stumps were under water and if we didn't know the lake we would have had no idea that it had lots of tress, stumps and brush in it. Fished north of the first W bridge and had little success. Moved to a cove of the main lake and fished the very backs of the coves and catch some nice crappies on minnows. (3 to 4 feet down off of any tress and brush we could find.) Catch almost was many channel cats as crappies. The water was very dirty so minnows were working better than jigs. All of the females still had theirs eggs. With more rain and cooler temps coming on Wednesday and the weekend, no telling how fishing will be over the few days. I think we may have a small window of opportunity next week with warner temps. Good fishing to you all.
Thanks for the reports and pics.
Looks like catfish time!
