Need boat trailer advice
I've about had it with this trailer. I love the boat, 2007 Lowe stinger 195......but the trailer is a POS. Dealer said so when I got it, and he was right. I've replaced the axle once.
On way back from Toledo Bend yesterday, blew out tire....south of Mansfield, LA. Took the fender right off, had the license plate bolted to it, and I had to walk back a half mile to get it. It's torn up. Here's the tire. Tore the wiring off, of course, and broke the circuit so now I have no lights either. I limped home on the spare. These are the third set of tires for this trailer..........they are Tow-Master 185/75R13.

I want to end the problems. ST rated tires all show 65 mph top speed rating. I want to get a higher ply tire, 8 ply or 10 ply, Radial, but that requires 14" or 15" tires. I don't know if the wheels I have will work with those, I doubt it. Then I'm sure I'd have to get bigger fenders (have to buy ONE new one, anyway). And I don't know if that would solve the problem.
I've had to get side bunks, then two sets of side rollers, just to get this boat on the trailer without taking 4 tries. Now this..........
Don't know what to do. Not sure of costs. Have thought of just buying a new HD double axle trailer but no clue what that costs, I'm sure too much. Still don't know if that would get me a bigger more HD tire or not.
I need something I can trailer down the road at freeway speeds and not worry.
Ideas????????????
oh, and P.S........we didn't catch much. Three of us maybe caught 30 per day. It's like fishing the ocean on that lake......and it rained nonstop......

Yep, you've got it figured out. New bigger fenders, 14 inch wheels with radial tires. You won't have to go with that many plies with radial tries. I already had 14 inch wheels, but had to go to radial tires because of the same problem. My boats are fiberglass and I'm sure heavier than yours and this fixed my problems. I pull my boat about a thousand miles a month on the interstate at around 75 mph and never had a problem.

Most all ST tires are just crap, lots of people call them China bombs, the manufacturer knows that there is no persons life is at stake so they know there is no reliability much to there tires, so they make the tire with not much quality to them. Even the RV campers tires are about the same way, Buckrub I think you have the right idea on getting different size tire, an stay away from ST tires of any manufacturers. I've been there an done that what you have just encountered.

Man that sux dude! I have the same boat and I have attempted to contact Lowe numerous times about the trailer being "mickey mouse" right off the lot! Immediately I had to change wenches and do other small stuff to it, because it was built so cheaply. I love my boat and If I had to do it again would choose the same, but would rather them put a top of the line trailer with the boat. Once you decide to spend that much money, whats a couple thousand more for a quality trailer? I figured I would get some satisfaction about this, but I was wrong lol. Not the first time I been wrong. Im really glad yaw caught the amount of fish yaw did catch. Culd have been worse. lol

Look into a radial tire. I solved that problem on my 2 utility trailers years ago. I have a Tracker 175 w/70 Yam. This trailer had brand new tires when I bought it last year, but I watch the pressure and condition of tires each time I use boat(3 times a week). Wal Mart will not mount a car tire on a trailer tire rim but your local tire store should. I hope this helps.

Just call BRM, he can hook you up with a nice trailer.

These ARE radial tires. Just POS radials, and 13" is too small.
Bill, I'm calling you Monday.......got church and then a big meeting today.......and you ain't open today anyway! :highfive ha. I found you in my phone contacts under "BRM, Bill". hahaha.
Oh, and here's a 15.5" fish.........which turned out to be the best we caught! Just not that many big 'uns.........and not many little 'uns either.
