Toledo Bend in there Rain
Took our yearly trip tho Toledo Bend last week. Sure enough, rained some every day…that was the bad news, good news the fish were still biting though you had to spend some time on the water to get a 25 fish limit. We spent 6 days at South Toledo Bend state park and I did what I like to do over there, slow trolling (strolling) hand held with two poles. I love to feel that thump…It was over cast everyday which actually made for good fishing. I never went more than 3/4 of a mile from the park, fishing 17- 20 f.o.w. just keeping a three jig set up above the grass. Triple tails on one rod and hair jigs on the other did real well. Black and chartreuse, and pearl and chartresAttachment 203203Attachment 203204Attachment 203200e all on 1/16 jig heads worked all week. Making two trips a day gave me limits every day, sure wished I lived closer, but that is a little greedy I guess. Some fish still had eggs. Fish looked real healthy and many were in the 13 inch range. So, until the Basin is right, Toledo is still worth looking at…Just took a few pictures this year so here goes…BC Sorry about the photos, need a third grader to show how to work this thing...
