I am going Kayaking/Camping out of Taylor Bay this weekend and wondered if anyone would have any tips on fishing this area.
Looking to catch just about anything. WIll have bass, Crappie, Bluegill and catfish gear with me.
Anybody have any pointers or tips?
Find a rocky point or hump, get some nightcrawlers, and fill your freezer with channel catfish. Fish under a slip cork about the depth of the water you are casting to. You can use any gear. We were using ultra-light gear with 4-6 pound line yesterday. I would recommend a little heavier line if you are targeting cats. We were after the gills and redears that were spawning right in the same area.

When you go out of Taylor go right and turn right into Jake Fork. You can cast curly tails to the shore line all the way to the back of the bay. As you go back on the right side about 3/4 of the way back you'll see a clearing for a nice large campsite(even a dirt road comes down the hill). There is an old beaver dam that goes halfway across the bay but best place to fish it is from the shore to maybe 75 feet out. I've been fishing this spot for over 30 yrs for crappie. When you get to the beaver dam switch to either minnows or jigs tipped with minnows. Only problem would be if you're too late and the crappie have moved out deeper(beaver dam only bank should still produce). Good luck!Quote:
