Technical aspects of pulling cranks
I've never pulled crank baits but plan on it this year. My guess is we're targeting suspended fish in deeper water which may or may not be in cover. Is this correct? If I were to fish Dardanelle for instance, would I be looking in 12ft or 20ft or 7-10 ft? someone help me out here.

The fish will tell you the depth. Just fish above where you see em on your graph. You can buy the Precision Trolling Data app and it will let you know how much line to let out for the depth you want. It lists several hundred types of cranks and their depth charts.
I catch a lot of fish in the summer months than are shallow in the water column, but may be suspended over 25-30 fow. For me, that's when planer boards are at their best.
