Nolin
Rowdy, been a while since I've been to Nolin. Can you tell me what the average size of the crappie you've been catching there is? Any tips on finding fish there. I've been making trips to Barren and doing pretty good spiderrigging the old creek channel, catching fish in 12 to 15 foot of water. Do you ever catch any eye's while trying for crappie?

Yes ,I caught my first eye last week,a killer 4 incher! I always fish the channel drops, using 8 poles about 1ft off the bottom, just slow and zig-zag over the drops,Lots of the time the shorter line will swing over deeper water and you will get the supended ones,
I use minnows always about 16in above 1/2 oz,weight I use a ez check measuring board and I painted a line at 9 1/4 ,Thats my cull size? biggest crappie this year at noiln is 14 1/2in. They are thin when you go to fillet them.We will average 50-60 % keepers.:)

Thanks for the info Rowdy. I've been fishing Barren quite a bit, but the lake is a mess right now with all the rain. Is Nolin just as bad? a 14 1/2 incher is a good crappie anywhere. I might have to make the drive to Bowling Green and try it out. Where is the best spot to locate that channel? I fish the same way at Barren w/8 poles, usually jigs tipped with a minnow.

If you put in at wax You are in the channel, up lake, or away from the bridge,is dangerous at winter pool,I know it and still get out of the channel somtimes! Somedays they are tight on the drops and some are over deper water? with the spidder rig you can cover ALL of it!
