wonder if mill creek ramp is any good
Mill creek is a decent ramp. It is not a COE ramp. It is a pay ramp. It can be crowded there on the weekend because of the campground. It is kind of in the middle so good access to the area. Eastport is a public ramp but it is a little isolated.
I would use Eastport. Mill creek is small and secluded. You could also try Rose Trails its a nice ramp.
What part of TN are you coming from?
When I fish Bear Creek I almost always launch from MillCreek marina. It's centrally located on Bear Creek, they have a fueldock, and they sell minnows. The "parking lot" is small butI've never been unable to find a spot. The only time I avoid Mill Creekis on holiday weekends when there will be a lot of drunks on golf carts. I’ll also say that their minnows are prettyweak. I buy minnows from the Eagle gasstation a few miles up the road…I go out of my way to get them from the Eaglebecause they are the strongest kicking, longest lasting minnows I’ve everpurchased.
I launched from Eastport one time. They were so crowded that I had tounhitch my trailer, then put it in one spot, and my truck in another…I neverwent back after that.
I’ve never launched form the Colbert County ramp in ALjust because it’s a much further drive for me (coming from MS).
Another option is to launch at JP Coleman, which has anawesome facility…huge parking lot, bathrooms, fuel dock, courtesy docks, statepark…and is about a 4 mile run from Bear Creek. JP Coleman also sits at the mouth of Indian Creek, and is about 4 milesfrom Yellow Creek as well. I launch fromhere a lot because I can get to the three major creeks pretty easily. Your boat might be a factor in launching fromJP Coleman. I’ve got an 18.5 foot aluminumhull, and it doesn’t like anything that even resembles rough water. If the wind is chopping up the main lake I’drather launch at Mill Creek than try to run to Bear from JP Coleman.
Thanks all, think were gonna try JP coleman
