Flooded lakes sent me South on 1st trip of 2015

... this past weekend. Went down to Watts Bar, in East Tenn, and found out real quick that the fish had not yet come to the banks :Doh:

Caught 11 Crappie ... all but one being in the 11-13" size.

And we had to slow troll jigs out in 20-30fow to pick up the scattered fish, suspended at 15-25ft deep :yikes (catch rate was approx 1 fish per hour)

Water temps ranged from 64-67deg ... but no males were found shallow. :dono

All 11 fish caught were females busting with eggs. (5 were caught Fri afternoon - ZERO caught all day Sat - 6 were caught Sun morning) They're on the move towards the backs of the creeks, but taking their sweet time about it. The females may be surprised when they get to the spawning banks and there ain't no males waiting on them :banghead :Rofl

That is crazy they aren't up there spawning! I can't believe the catch rate was that slow and they aren't up on the banks!

TWRA report from 4/27 said some were being caught 4-8ft deep, but most were being caught deeper, as they were moving "out" into deeper water. Made it sound like most had already spawned, and started their post spawn move. I don't know where they get their info, but the Whites Creek area fish were moving IN to the creeks, and still had eggs ready to lay. I just hope they get off some kind of spawn !!

My dad was talking about going down sometime soon. Not sure if they'll make it there or not, but that is bizarre they are still coming in that late for spawn. Nice pics! Like I say, in a boat on the water is a great day regardless of the catch.
