Tellico was tough today
My dad and I hit the water about 9 and fished until 3. We ended with 7 keepers and probably 20 shorts. They came from 28 FOW on a variety of colors, about 27' deep. The water was 65 degrees. It was a good day of fishing, tough day of catching, but an awesome day with my dad.

Congrats on an overall good day.

You weren't alone, bud ... I was on Watts Bar from Fri ~noon til Sun ~noon ... and found my fish in 25-30fow at 15-20ft deep. All females and all still busting with eggs. No males to be found, ANYWHERE :banghead .... water temps ranged between 64-67deg. All fish caught slow trolling jigs @ 0.5 to 0.7mph.
Oh .... and Saturday we did not boat a Crappie, all day, not ONE !!

Yeah, all ours were females with eggs.

Sounds like a good day on the water! I've had days i'd kill to catch 27 fish. Great job.:ThumbsUp

Thanks Gary ..... yeah, I know !!
Tenncrappie .... appreciate that, but I'm not a coffee drinker :Rofl
We have found WB Crappie spawning in 3-5fow in May, before ... with daytime highs in the 90's ... but, that was some years ago. The biggest mystery to me was .... where were the males ?? None of the other Ky/Ind/OH/Tn anglers we talked to had caught many males, and no one was catching any Crappie shallower than 15ft deep (in 20-30fow).
I only mentioned my trip because it sounded a lot like lga's Tellico trip ... so maybe they're going to have a late spawn :dono
I just hope it don't get too warm, too fast, and they don't have a chance to spawn in decent conditions.
One other thing that puzzled me, was where were the dinks ?? Didn't hear anyone talk about catching any throwbacks, shallow fish, or finding anything around docks. Everything was out deep, still, and 11-14" females w/eggs was the normal catch ... and they were scattered. They are wandering back into the creeks & bays, though, because part of our catch was midway back in one creek ... and some even caught a few right off the boat slip dock at Arrowhead (in water 7-9ft deep).
Some "guide" was charging $30/hr ... and his best 4hr trip only netted 20 fish  ... if that tells you anything about how scattered the fish still are !!
