All dressed up and no place to go.
We used to have a peacock bass tournament every Saturday when I was down in Panama. Don't know if you've ever eaten it, but it's my favorite fish to fry (never had walleye). This SGM and I bought a couple big buckets of minnows and made plans to win it-neither of us had ever caught any monsters during past tournaments (there were two categories-"biggest fish" and "biggest stringer". We were gonna win or die trying. Weigh-in was at noon.
We gunned it out to his honey hole, broke a line on a big tarpon, and commenced to tear it up. Stacked up some beauts! KNEW we were in for the money.
He decided to gun over to another hole, hit a stump, and the outboard flew off the transom and into the lake (prop cut the tie-down line). Sat there a long time. Finally got a slow tow back to camp with a couple of San Blas Indians.
The winner was another SGM named Messina with a stringer of ten to twenty-plus pounders.
He never left the dock.
